2017 - current

Principal Technologist

  • Hired as the Principal Technologist to be responsible for the Architecture and Technology for a $300M Customer Experience Transformation (CXT) Program. The role then transitioned to include the whole of Customer Markets (the retail division of AGL)
  • Worked on IT strategy and roadmap for Customer Markets/CXT Program identifying business capability along with technology gaps and determining future state architecture
  • Chair design authorities and manage governance for architecture and technology decisions, while being part of the Architecture Governance Council
  • Responsible for architecture decisions within Customer Markets/CXT Program to enable better experience for the customer, pushing them towards self-service, and reducing the number of calls received in call centers
  • Considerable uplift to the technology capability was achieved during my time in the program. This included overhaul of the web experience including introduction of an eCommerce platform and a new CMS platform, moving to a micro services architecture for API, new native mobile phone experience, a new data and decisioning platform, new Campaigning platform, just to name a few
  • Worked on several innovation initiatives that included technologies like blockchain (for peer to peer trading and demand-response), digital twins (using batteries and IoT for energy dis-aggregation), bots (conversational bots over voice and chat), ML and cognitive services (for meter reads), etc.
  • Involved in due diligence of M&A activities, including the successful acquisition of Southern Phones

2015 - 2017

Chief Technology Officer

  • As Chief Technology Officer, was responsible for setting the overall technology vision and roadmap for the company and the delivery of products such as Communicare, MyCareManager, Argus, ConnectingCare, The Care Manager (TCM), ConnectingCareWorker, Comcare, Enterprise Provider Directories, etc.
  • Maintain strong relationship with the General Managers to ensure successful development of these products
  • Managed direct and indirect reports totaling about 80 people which included Architects, Developers, QA Test Analysts, IT personnel, and UX designers
  • Responsible for the IT infrastructure, budget and P&L for the technology team
  • Establish best practices, processes, architecture roadmap and governance structures
  • Responsible for a number of internal projects like implementation of CRM solution, Service desk, O365, Confluence, etc.

2007 - 2015

Head of Products and Managed Services

  • Worked as the Head of the Managed services arm of Readify, that looked after applications for around 30 customers. Prior to that, I was Principal Consultant
  • As Principal Consultant, had reporting oversight of over 40 consulting staff in Melbourne
  • As Head of Products and Managed Services had 15 direct and indirect reports.
  • Worked on career goals and objectives for team, monitor their performance, work out professional development plans, etc.
  • Established process and methodologies for the team. Participate on Release planning, daily standups, retrospectives, sprint planning, review, etc. as needed
  • As a Principal Consultant, I was responsible for Architecting, and managing a number of applications for companies like National Australia Bank, QSR International, Webjet, MYOB, Australia Post, and Telstra
  • As a technical specialist in Microsoft Azure, helped MYOB build the cloud components in Microsoft Azure, and migrated a number of customers to the cloud. The MYOB application is one of the largest cloud applications in the world with thousands of databases hosted on Microsoft Azure. Have also been working with clients to shape their product to work in the “Software as a Service” model in the cloud
  • Offer advice to senior management including CxOs on technology choices, application roadmaps, strategy and architecture
  • Work with Readify’s sales team on the sales pipeline, meet with new and existing clients on a regular basis, and talking to decision makers on potential engagements
  • As part of the Technology Services Group, advice Readify management on technical aspects, and drive the company’s technical vision

2002 - 2006

Technical Director - the thin blue line

  • Responsible for building the team and delivering a number of key projects including LEAP Electronic Data Recorder (LEDR), C*JEP Attendance, C*JEP Brief, C*JEP Custody and Traffic Incident System (TIS)
  • Built the thin blue line’s team of Architects, Business Analysts, Testers and Developers from scratch
  • Set the technology vision; designed and helped develop the architecture and framework that formed the basis for all the projects
  • Ensure that “best practices” are followed across the board on all projects
  • Introduced Agile methodologies (MSF Agile and later Scrum)

  • Partner in a startup company that eventually grew to about 30 people; was involved in the day to day running of the company, setting up processes, and managing people
  • Architected and developed a number of applications – the most significant ones being a Java VM to run on a handheld device (HP Jornada), creation of an API for developers to create apps on the device, and a desktop application to sync the HP Jornada handheld device (Development of most applications were done initially in Java and C++, before finally moving over to the .NET 1.0)
